Hello! I’m a Visiting Assistant Professor and Training Director at the College of Emergency Management, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity at the University at Albany.

I’m an extremism scholar with a focus on the language and cognition of extremist belief. Recent research areas include language and belief in conspiracy theories, incel terminology, metaphors of dehumanization, and linguistic markers of radicalization.

Beyond academia, I have interdisciplinary experience in grant writing and graphic design, using data analytics, visualization, and strategic communication to drive impactful community development. My perspective is enriched by a professional degree in architecture, underscoring my interdisciplinary approach to research and problem-solving.

I am eager to connect with people passionate about social science research and addressing extremism in all its forms. Contact me at emily.klein001@gmail.com or via LinkedIn.
